Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Mohammed Jega, reportedly escaped death, yesterday, when some youths attacked him at the palace of the Emir of Kazaure, Alhaji Najib Hussaini Adamu, in Jigawa State.
Jega was said to be in the town to attend the wedding of the daughter of emir. It was gathered that trouble started around 12:30 pm when the INEC boss was coming out of the palace and the youths identified him.
A young girl allegedly led the attack when she collected sand and threw it at the vehicle in which the INEC chairman was riding. Then the youths, in hundreds, began to hurl stones at Jega’s convoy. Several cars in the convoy were said to have been damaged and their glasses smashed. Sources said the situation would have been worse but for the intervention of security forces. The youths sang war songs alleging betrayal on Jega’s path.
“You cheated us, you cheated the North, you declared falsed result, you denied General Buhari the chance to be the president of Nigeria, it was injustice, we will not forgive you”, some of them said..
Another drama played out immediately thereafter when retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), arrived the scene. The youths hailed him, saying he was the answer to Nigerians socio-economic, political, religious and ethnic problems. Contacted, however, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdul, Jinjiri denied the attack on Jega.

I don’t see how this thing could have happened without the fore knowledge of Jega’s host. Govt needs to set up inquiry on this disgraceful incident and the Emir on whose premises this thing happened isn’t even expressing remorse and outrage. That’s instructive enough. As to ‘cheating the North’, only those stupid youths know what they mean. Did they imagine that heir Buhari won in SW, SE and SS? No chance. Buhari didn’t even campaign seriously in those places. So, what these urchins did just exhibited the rampaging ignorance that has defined the insecurity and mistrust that is the lot of Nigeria of the moment

Northern people are not rubish ok?just know what you are saying you here me? Please correct your words and mind your business didnt he cheat northern people?ok now you want to depend him because you help this unserious president introduce boko haram so think wisely and i repeat mind your business
You can say whatever you want, but remember its political matter not religious. And that what you have said will only happen when we are not alive. My reason are many but the only one i can tell you, that is to say you are fear to die, but real muslim hausa fulani of nouth are not apride to it, hence they are looking to meet with it anytime.
Do you think the Igbos fear to die? No! We are told to die for good reasons and justice. That is what Igbo fathers tell their sons and daughters and not to look back if you want to avenge a perpetrator that wants to kill you. Kill to steal another man’s property? You damned yourself Mr Kiru, Mansur, by thinking that way. Spiritually, you are a beggar, stealing another man’s effort and sweat, shame on you people for adapting to that way of thinking. We the Igbos will continue to change your mafia and uncivilized culture. How the north and their uncivilized ways has changed Nigeria. When I went to the north everybody used to have dagger in their arm but lately it disappeared trying to look more civilized Easterners. We will continue to change the north with our benevolence.
Wat rubish? Wat do these northern people take this Nigeria for, their birthrite to rule? And the south always under them?. Unfortunately they cn’t rule Nigeria again. Jonathan must finish 2019 or we divide them out of Nigeria and name them “muslim republic of Africa” while south wil retain the name “NIGERIA” and come 2019 and 2023 its for the Igbos and then yoruba in 2027.
All the north should go and die and funny enough all the time is always IBB, Atiku or Buhari they make noise with their is no other educated man in the north, they irritate me alot God knows i can never serve in the north.
